With the <a href="https://sportsdata.usatoday.com/football/nfl/teams/seattle-seahawks/361" target="_blank">Seattle Seahawks</a> set to take on the <a href="https://sportsdata.usatoday.com/football/nfl/teams/jacksonville-jaguars/365" target="_blank">Jacksonville Jaguars</a>, it is time for another edition of Behind Enemy Lines. The Jaguars are not a common opponent for the Seahawks, with these two teams having met most recently during Halloween of the 2021 season. Back then, Urban Meyer was the head coach. Yeah, that long ago. </p><p>As such, we felt we needed to get a better idea of what kind of team Jacksonville is. To get such intel, we spoke with <a href="https://jaguarswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/jaguars/2025/10/11/jaguars-seahawks-4-things-know-prediction/86643645007/">Paul Bretl of Jaguars Wire</a>. We asked Bretl five questions about the Jags, and on teh flip side, he asked me five questions about the Seahawks. The Jaguars are forcing turnovers at a very high rate, which takes points off the board for opponents and gives the Jacksonville offense more scoring opportunities. The run game has been very effective, giving the Jaguars' offense an element to lean on, not to mention that component is crucial to the overall success of the Liam Coen system.</p><h2 class="presto-h2 wp-block-heading">No. 2 - What has HC Liam Cohen in his first season brought to the table compared to other coaches in years past?</h2><p>There is a unique resiliency about this Jaguars team. A prime example of that was Monday against the Chiefs, when they overcame a 14 point deficit and then came from behind once again late in the game. Things haven't always been smooth, but under Coen, this team plays hard for 60 minutes.</p><h2 class="presto-h2 wp-block-heading">No. 3 - Who is a non-household name Jaguar that you think Seahawks fans should be aware of?</h2><p>Cornerback Jourdan Lewis has been in the NFL for a number of years and previously played with Dallas, so I'm sure many know the player. But his importance to this defense can't be overstated. That begins with his play in the nickel, where he is stout against the run and stingy in coverage, but also plays a crucial role in the pre-snap communication and quickly emerged as a leader on this team shortly after arriving in free agency.</p><h2 class="presto-h2 wp-block-heading">No. 4 - Is there a position group you think the Jags have an edge at? Conversely, is there a Seahawks unit that gives you concern?</h2><p>I mentioned the run game, but a lot of the success that the Jaguars have had on offense begins with the offensive line play. This unit was reshaped during the offseason and after a competitive summer to find the best starting five, they've operated at a high level. There's a strong running game to lean on and Trevor Lawrence has had ample time in the pocket.</p><h2 class="presto-h2 wp-block-heading">No. 5 - Who wins and why?</h2><p>The Jaguars are finding ways to win, so I'm going to ride that momentum with them. The defense is extremely opportunistic, and each week the offense becomes smoother and smoother. However, they do rank 30th in the league in defending deep passes – passes over 20 air yards downfield.</p><p><a href="https://www.covers.com/sport/football/nfl/players/298434/marvin-harrison-jr">Marvin Harrison Jr.</a> will be facing the team where his father is the all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.</p><p>He is going to want to show out here in Indianapolis in honor of his father. He is also a big-time deep threat for the <a href="https://www.covers.com/sport/football/nfl/teams/main/arizona-cardinals/odds">Arizona Cardinals</a> to take advantage of that poor deep passing defense.</p><p>Harrison Jr. is averaging 15.3 yards per catch this season. He has also seen six targets of at least 20+ air yards this season. On those six targets, he has caught four for 136 yards, which is 34.0 yards per reception.</p><p>After a slow start to the season, MHJ has been heavily involved the last two weeks. : </strong>Sciver-Brunt 117 (117); Ranaweera 3-33</p><p><strong>Sri Lanka 164 (45.4 overs): </strong>Harshitha 33 (37); Ecclestone 4-17</p><p><em>England won by 89 runs</em></p><p><a href="https://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/scorecard/e-228837?xtor=AL-72-%5Bpartner%5D-%5Byahoo.north.america%5D-%5Blink%5D-%5Bsport%5D-%5Bbizdev%5D-%5Bisapi%5D">Scorecard</a>, <a href="https://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/womens-world-cup-one-day/table?xtor=AL-72-%5Bpartner%5D-%5Byahoo.north.america%5D-%5Blink%5D-%5Bsport%5D-%5Bbizdev%5D-%5Bisapi%5D">Table</a></p><p><strong>England remain unbeaten in the Women's World Cup after Nat Sciver-Brunt's sensational century and a remarkable spell of 4-17 from Sophie Ecclestone set up a crushing 89-run win over Sri Lanka in Colombo.</strong></p><p>Having put England in to bat, Sri Lanka were left to rue dropping Sciver-Brunt on three, as she punished them with a run-a-ball 117 in England's competitive 253-9. </p><p>The game was delicately poised with England 179-6 after 40 overs, but the captain timed her acceleration to perfection with 49 runs coming from the last five. </p><p>In reply, Sri Lanka's captain and key batter Chamari Athapaththu retired hurt early in their innings, but fellow opener Hasini Perera and Harshitha Samarawickrama led a promising recovery to 95-1. </p><p>But the co-hosts' lack of batting depth cost them, despite Athapaththu's return to the crease before she fell for 15, and they finished 164 all out in the 46th over, Ecclestone's often-unplayable spell of turn and bounce doing the damage. </p><p>England's third win in a row puts them top of the eight-team table, one point above defending champions Australia.</p><p>Earlier, Sciver-Brunt played a lone hand as the rest of England's top order made promising starts but were unable to capitalise, with opener Tammy Beaumont's 32 the next-highest contribution. </p><p>Amy Jones was run out for 11 and Beaumont was caught in the covers, before Sciver-Brunt and former captain Heather Knight consolidated with a patient stand of 60. </p><p>Knight was caught sweeping for 29 and England suffered another middle-order wobble to spin, including the loss of Emma Lamb and Alice Capsey to Inoka Ranaweera in the 35th over.</p><p>The discipline of Dean stabilised England again as she added 38 for the seventh wicket with Sciver-Brunt, which allowed the skipper to kick on at the death and ensure they had set a winning score. </p><p>England will look to maintain their winning run against Pakistan, also in Colombo, on Wednesday.</p><ul><li><a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/articles/cgjg864n8z5o?xtor=AL-72-%5Bpartner%5D-%5Byahoo.north.america%5D-%5Blink%5D-%5Bsport%5D-%5Bbizdev%5D-%5Bisapi%5D">ICC Women's World Cup 2025 - fixtures, results & scorecards</a></li><li><a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/articles/cx23dnp8ne6o?xtor=AL-72-%5Bpartner%5D-%5Byahoo.north.america%5D-%5Blink%5D-%5Bsport%5D-%5Bbizdev%5D-%5Bisapi%5D">Women's World Cup table, top run-scorers & wicket-takers</a></li></ul><h2>Sublime Sciver-Brunt stands alone</h2><p>Coming into the World Cup, there was concern surrounding the workload of Sciver-Brunt, leading the side for the first time in a World Cup, carrying the weight of the batting line-up and returning to bowl after an Achilles injury suffered during the Ashes.</p><p>But she has quietened those doubts, taking a wicket with her first ball back in the opener against South Africa and here notching her fifth World Cup hundred, the most for any woman as she reached the milestone from 110 balls.</p><p>The defining moment for Sri Lanka came in the 14th over as Sciver-Brunt drilled Ranaweera to Udeshika Prabodhani at short mid-wicket, struck firmly but at a comfortable height before bursting through the fielder's hands.</p><p>Sciver-Brunnr was ruthless in her punishment. She was happy to rebuild after the loss of the openers with Knight, and had to absorb pressure in the middle overs after Sophia Dunkley was caught and bowled for 18, Lamb was bowled round her legs for 13 and Capsey was stumped off a beautiful turning delivery - the only England batter who could realistically say she was out to a good ball.</p><p>Vice-captain Dean offered valuable company before Sciver-Brunt picked her moment to unleash her power down the ground and pulled confidently off anything short in a crucial ninth-wicket stand of 36 from 19 balls with Linsey Smith.</p><p>Sciver-Brunt's wife - former England bowler Katherine - was in the crowd with their baby boy Theo, and the century celebration was a touching moment, with the captain gesturing to her family like she was rocking him in her arms.</p><p>An in-form Sciver-Brunt is likely to hold the key to England's hopes and with figures of 2-25 to follow in Sri Lank's innings, her side are in prime position to head into crunch games against favourites India and Australia unbeaten.</p><h2>Ecclestone's magic bamboozles Sri Lanka</h2><p>With conditions at the various group-stage venues proving to favour spinners considerably, England continue to prove that they have one of the most formidable attacks to exploit such pitches.</p><p>After captain Athapaththu was taken off the field on a stretcher, it was Dean who made the initial breakthrough with her first ball, a stunning delivery that turned from off stump to take leg and bowl Vishmi Gunaratne for 10.</p><p>The turn and bounce must have had Ecclestone itching to get the ball in hand but she was held back until the 19th over.</p><p>From there, she was metronomic and relentless. She removed both set batters Perera and Harshitha to swing momentum back in England's favour, though the roar from the Sri Lankan crowd when Athapaththu emerged from the dugout emphasised her importance to the side. </p><p>But she was scratchy for 39 balls before being bowled by Ecclestone, alongside Kavisha Dilhari, as each batter tried and failed to put her under pressure by sweeping or taking her down the ground.</p><p>Though England were a little sloppy in the field and will likely be asked for improvement in that area by coach Charlotte Edwards, these match-winning efforts from their best bowler and star all-rounder will not be going unnoticed by their big rivals.</p><h2>'Catches win matches' - reaction</h2><p><strong>England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt:</strong> "In the start, it looked fairly easy to score. Then the spin came on, and there was a bit of inconsistency in terms of whether there was spin or bounce and just how it reacted off the wicket.</p><p>"I guess for me batting through allows other people to come in and play in different ways, and I felt like I could never accelerate properly, until the conditions right at the end."</p><p><strong>When asked if her team have played their best yet:</strong> "In patches but not really put all together, I'd say. We would have liked to have bigger partnerships in our batting innings to make it feel a little bit more comfortable."</p><p><strong>Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu:</strong> "We bowled really well. ![](/<p>Few expected the Texas Longhorns to enter the 2025 Red River Rivalry unranked — but here they are, with Arch Manning falling well short of the lofty expectations and struggling mightily under center.</p><p>Now, Manning and the Longhorns face perhaps the toughest test yet: a matchup against what might be the best defense in the nation in the Oklahoma Sooners.</p><p>The one potential break? But I’m not sure anyone thought his play was going to be this bad.</p><p>The <a href="https://www.covers.com/sport/football/ncaaf/teams/main/texas-longhorns/odds">Texas Longhorns</a> QB has looked lost throughout the season, and it all came to a head when they travelled to the Swamp to take on the Florida Gators.</p><p>Manning and the suddenly suspect-looking Longhorns' offensive line had no answer for the Gators' defensive front. Florida pressured Arch all game long, forcing him into multiple bad throws, including two interceptions while completing just 55% of his passes in what finished as a 29-21 loss for Texas.</p><p>He is now completing just 60% of his passes for the season and has thrown at least one pick in all but one game. And now, he must face what looks like the best defense in the country in the <a href="https://www.covers.com/sport/football/ncaaf/teams/main/oklahoma-sooners/odds">Oklahoma Sooners</a>.</p><p>Brent Venables’ defense has been a nightmare for opposing QBs this season. The Sooners lead the nation in defensive success rate. They are first against the run and first on dropbacks, and also lead the nation in sack rate.</p><p>Now, Arch is still a great athlete and can make things happen with his legs. Well, I think he’s going to have to be here as the Sooners might have him running for his life. Something similar happened in the Florida game, and he ended up with 37 rushing yards. I expect more of the same here.</p><p>So, with a modest rushing total sitting at 21.5, let’s take the Over for a number Arch has gone Over in all but one game this season.</p><p>It’s Manning’s first taste of the Red River Rivalry, and he may hope it’s his last.</p><div class="row"><div class="text-center col-xs-12"><a class="covers-CoversBettingReviews-playBtn" href="https://www.covers.com/picks/ncaaf">MORE FREE CFB PICKS</a></div></div><p></p><h2>Oklahoma vs Texas same-game parlay - if John Mateer plays</h2><p></p><p>The big question heading into the Red River Rivalry this week is whether or not <a href="https://www.covers.com/sport/football/ncaaf/players/254515/john-mateer">John Mateer</a> plays. He will be just 17 days removed from surgery on his hand this Saturday, but it sounds like he’s making a push to play, particularly if you ask the local Chipotle employee.</p><p>If Mateer plays, he’s going to have a huge impact on this game. Texas has a strong defense; we just saw what happens when they get no support from the offense, as DJ Lagway was able to throw it all over them.</p><p>Mateer was the Heisman favorite before getting hurt, throwing for 1,215 yards and six touchdowns, while adding another 190 yards and five scores on the ground. He makes you respect his arm just enough. But when you drop back in coverage, he’s ready to rumble towards that goal line.</p><p>Simply put, if he’s playing, not only does he find the end zone, but I don’t know how Texas keeps up with Oklahoma here. So take Mateer to find the end zone while leading the Sooners to a win.</p><h3>Oklahoma vs Texas SGP</h3><ul><li>Arch Manning Over 21.5 Rushing Yards</li><li>John Mateer TD</li><li>Oklahoma moneyline</li></ul><h2>Oklahoma vs Texas SGP - if John Mateer is out</h2><p></p><p>But of course, we have a contingency plan if Mateer goes through warmups and the Oklahoma staff decides he can’t go.</p><p>Oklahoma’s backup is <a href="https://www.covers.com/sport/football/ncaaf/players/297083/michael-hawkins-jr">Michael Hawkins Jr.,</a> another dual-threat QB whose arm isn’t as scary as Mateer’s. But he started a handful of games for the Sooners last season, and took care of business against Kent State in his last start.</p><p>His favorite target in that game was <a href="https://www.covers.com/sport/football/ncaaf/players/253685/isaiah-sategna-iii">Isaiah Sategna</a>, who has stepped up as the Sooners' best wideout this season. He’s been targeted 25 times, catching 20 of them for 299 yards and three touchdowns over the last three games. I like him to find the end zone again this week.</p><p>That said, with no Mateer, expect Oklahoma to commit to the run. If John Mateer doesn't play... Oklahoma wins this football game. Texas has given us no reason to believe they can suddenly become a competent offense, particularly against one of the best defenses in the country.</p><h3>Oklahoma vs Texas spread prediction</h3><p>Oklahoma is a slight underdog in this matchup and likely will be unless Mateer is confirmed to be playing. But I don't agree with that assessment. Even with their backup, I believe the Sooners are a better team than the Longhorns. Take the points while you can get them.</p><h3>Oklahoma vs Texas Over/Under prediction</h3><p>I lean Under here. Whether or not Mateer plays, Arch Manning will have to face off against this intimidating Oklahoma defense. Texas scored just seven in the season opener against Ohio State and 21 in last week's loss to Florida. I don't see how the Longhorns improve on that this week.
