Former manager Steven Gerrard was due to arrive in London on Wednesday night to hold talks with Rangers over the next couple of days about their head coach vacancy. Rangers want to know if Gerrard can be convinced to return as team boss, while the 45-year-old would be keen on the job but would want to know there is money to strengthen the squad in January and would want the final say on all transfer activity. Gerrard wants to recruit at least four staff members should he return as Rangers team boss, with former Ibrox striker Jermaine Defoe and Gerrard's previous assistant Gary McAllister among those ready to join him and ex-Rangers midfielder Steven Davis being mooted as a potential addition to the coaching staff.

England's Guehi 'eternally grateful' to Swansea
Defender Marc Guehi says he is "eternally grateful" to Swansea City for his productive loan spells with the club earlier on in his career. The centre-back had two separate stints with Swans on loan from Chelsea and helped Steve Cooper's side reach the Championship play-offs in successive seasons.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim needs three years to prove he is a "great" coach, says co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Despite a summer transfer outlay in excess of ÂŁ200m after last season's 15th-place finish, United have already lost three times in the league this season and been knocked out of the EFL Cup by League Two Grimsby. In an interview on the Times' The Business podcast, Ratcliffe refuted rumours the United manager's job was at risk and said he feels "good guy" Amorim will need an extended amount of time to prove his worth.
