Eddie Sutton, Hall of Fame basketball coach, dies at 84

Eddie Sutton, the Hall of Fame basketball coach who led three teams to the Final Four and was the first coach to take four schools to the NCAA Tournament, died Saturday. Sutton's family said in a statement he died of natural causes at home in the Tulsa, Oklahoma, area, surrounded by his three sons and their families. ''Dad and Mom treated their players like family and always shared the belief that his teachings went beyond the basketball court,'' the family wrote.

Basketball is woven into the fabric of Native American life. F Brendan Bailey leaving Marquette to pursue pro career

Marquette forward Brendan Bailey is bypassing his final two seasons of eligibility to pursue a pro career. Bailey had entered his name into consideration for the NBA draft in April but still had the option of returning to school. Bailey and Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski announced Friday that Bailey was indeed moving forward with his pro career.

Kentucky-Michigan basketball clash in London delayed to 2022

Perennial US college basketball powerhouses Kentucky and Michigan have postponed their scheduled December 6 matchup in London until 2022 because of the coronavirus pandemic, the university teams announced. The inaugural Basketball Hall of Fame London Showcase will be played at the O2 Arena on December 4, 2022 as part of a three-game series that will see games played in 2021 at Michigan and 2023 at Kentucky. "Unfortunately, the unknown combination of health, safety, international travel regulations and the economic viability for all parties involved has required us to postpone this highly anticipated event," Basketball Hall of Fame chief executive John Doleva said.
