![](/<p>The <a href="https://bearswire.usatoday.com">Chicago Bears</a> are back from their bye week and, for the second straight season, they'll go on the road to take on the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football. </p><p>It's been well-documented about the "Fail Mary" loss to the Commanders last season, so it's clear that Chicago is looking for redemption in this game, with both teams having plenty of playmakers on both sides of the ball. Looking at the Commanders' roster, they made a blockbuster move to bring in wide receiver Deebo Samuel and offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, but they've also had some surprise contributors early on the season. </p><p>For this week's edition of "Gimme Him," we're looking at one player to steal from the Commanders roster and put on the <a href="https://sportsdata.usatoday.com/football/nfl/teams/chicago-bears/326" target="_blank">Bears</a>, targeting one of those surprise contributors to bring a boost to the Bears rushing attack, rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt.</p><p>Chicago's rushing attack has struggled for the past two seasons, with starting running back D'Andre Swift going over 100 yards on the ground in just one game since joining the team. There were plenty of pre-draft rumors this offseason about the Bears adding a running back early or making a big splash in free agency, but neither happened, and the biggest addition was a seventh-round selection of rookie Kyle Monangai.</p><p>With several running backs already on the roster, headlined by veteran Austin Ekeler, Washington took a gamble on Jacory Croskey-Merritt, now best known as Bill, and that gamble has paid off in a major way. After Ekeler suffered a torn Achilles injury, the rookie jumped at the opportunity to earn his keep. Coming off the best game of his rookie season last week, Croskey-Merritt ran for 111 yards and two touchdowns in a win over the Los Angeles Chargers, solidifying his role as a key piece in the Commanders' offense.</p><p>The Bears passing offense has taken a big step forward with second-year quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Rome Odunze stealing the show, but there has not been much from the running back position. Compared to Croskey-Merritt's 283 yards and four touchdowns, Swift has 187 yards and two touchdowns.
